Every once in a while a really cool set of events occur that should be shared, here is such a trail...

Some of you know back in October 2012 several of us organized “Music for Veterans” in New Milford CT. It was an amazing success and we hope to do it again in 2013. One of the coolest parts was I was contacted by Dave Peck the retired chief of Police in Fairfield CT who happened to see our flyer advertising the event. He suggested I call his cousin Colonel Bob Morris U.S. Army (Ret’d), Founder and President Partners International Foundation
At the time, Bob was involved with helping other veteran organizations and is the organizer behind the Global Campaign Against IED’s.

Bob arranged for 1,400 cases of Guinness Beer to be donated to our event and for us to give to veterans and first responders. This was part of a huge effort nationally. The beer was a way for Guinness to offer support for fundraising efforts for the proud members of our military and first responders.

The same year in November I met Anthony Capoziello, who is the Assistant Fire Chief of the Sandy Hook fired department in Newtown. I told Anthony the story and I offered his fire department several cases for their fundraising efforts. I never had and clue what would later transpire in Newtown of course.
So the Newtown tragedy hit and then the Boston bombing and both Anthony and Bob have been in the front page news for their recent efforts helping solve and heal both tragedies. Bob through his efforts below starting a legislation effort, and Anthony with his organizing efforts for Newtown healing, and a recent motorcycle rally with over 2,000 riders in the area last Sunday for the 26 Angles.

Anthony called me TODAY to follow up on my beer offer back in November. So we are arranging that soon. I expect lot’s of Guinness Black Lager at their Lobster fundraiser bash at the firehouse this summer.

So just so you know when you hear of the tragic news stories, there are always some really fantastic people running around and volunteering their time and energy to make things better. Way to go Bob and Anthony, it’s a real pleasure to know you both!
